About Me — Taryn Tyler
A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight.” -Oscar Wilde
I am a dark fantasy writer and content writer forged in the tiny volcano town of Jacumba, California. Actually, I lived in several different small towns growing up. Ridgefield, Anza, Alpine (With a population of 14.7k this one seemed huge to me at the time), but Jacumba may have been the most formative. It was where I lost my father, which can really make a kid grow up fast. Of course, the hub for me in any town we lived in was the library. Starting with puppet shows and story time before I could read for myself and ending with piles of novels and research books in college, I have never been at a loss for something to do at a library. Stories have always fascinated me.
At age thirteen I started my own publication called “Friendship Times” where my friends and I published stories about horses and princesses in serial format. My first two (unpublished) novels were drafted in it. I still have a kitty folder with copies of every issue buried in my bookshelf cabinet. In high school, we upgraded the name to “The Knights of the Page” because we thought it sounded cooler, but we kept publishing issues well into college when I started my solo journey into the publishing world.
