About Me — Teddy Wynard
College Student. Writer. Nerd. Believer.
Hi everyone! Happy to meet you! My name is Teddy Wynard, and I’m your average everyday college student. At least, on the surface, I am, but there’s much more to me than meets the naked eye.
Before I explain that mysterious ending to my intro paragraph, here’s some basic information about me!
I am a 20-year-old junior in college. I split my time during the year in Indianapolis for school, and during the summer, I am back home with my family in Chicago.
I have two main passions: sports, specifically baseball, and trading card games. I am a huge Chicago sports fan, although that comes with a lot of unwanted pain, if you know what I mean. On the TCG side of things, I am a competitive Disney Lorcana player and also make various pieces of content for the game.
Now, where did these passions come from, you may ask?
I grew up playing baseball, which I was introduced to by my dad when I was very young. As a kid, I did not like any physical contact whatsoever. So, I shied away from any sport where I would run into someone consistently, which now I know is why I liked baseball so much.
This led to me slowly building a love for one team, the Chicago Cubs, and tbh I still wish I could go back to 2016 to experience that World Series again, but that’s a story for another day. This led to a passion for all Chicago sports teams (besides the White Sox🤮), and sports in general.
My love for tabletop games came from my late Grandma. She lived about 3 hours from where I grew up, so visiting her was a special trip my family would take 3–4 times a year. When visiting her, game would be played triplong. Wake up, eat, play games, eat, play games, eat, play games, sleep is how most days went when we were up there.
As she grew older, less trips were made and less games were played. She passed late 2021, and since then every time I play a game at the kitchen table or travel for a competitive event, I always do it for her.
Now, that’s me on the surface. The everyday person sees me watching sports and playing games, but like I said in the beginning, there’s more to me than just that.
To start, I am a very anxious person. My leg is always bouncing (it is currently bouncing while writing this lol), I’m always cracking my knuckles, or fidgeting with something. I have a personality that wants everything to be okay and when it’s not, the stress slowly creeps into my life, which leads to overthinking, insomnia, and other smaller inconviniences.
To be transparent, I still deal with stuff to this day, but I’ve learned that these things in my life don’t define me or control me, they are just something I have, and I usually can find ways to calm myself down easily.
Some other less down in the dumps things about me that aren’t on the front cover are I am obsessed with keeping organized. I use Notion a lot, I live through my calendar (most of the time), and just feel a sense a pride when I can know everything is in its place.
I am also a devout Christian, with a Lutheran background. Growing up in the Church was one of the greatest blessings ever and I won’t ever take for granted what this part of my life has meant to me.
The people in my life the mean the most to me. My family and chosen family mean the world to me and I wouldn’t be able to do anything without them.
Now what will I be doing here on Medium?
Great question! I’ve always been a writer and have just never found a way to do that on a site I enjoy. Over the past few months I’ve done research and come to a conclusion that Medium is the best one for me.
I want to challenge myself to write daily, or at least 3–4 times a week. The topics will vary, whether it be on college occurences, my thoughts on a certain world issue, or anything that I think could be of value.
That’s all for now! A big thank you if you made it this far, and I hope to see you around Medium :)
