About Me — Travis Hubbard
On the outside looking in, and that’s just fine.
I’ve always been an outsider.
Much to the dismay of my parents, I chose to cut my own path as opposed to walking the one prepared for me by the many well meaning people in my life (parents, teachers, and guidance counselors).
I liked the first day of school (day 1 of 1st grade). Now that it’s a distant memory, my parents often laugh about getting me to go on the 2nd day.
I owe them big time for not throwing me in a river.
I have a problem with authority.
Which is odd since I did an enlistment in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving with the 10th Marines. Be that as it may, I still have a problem with people telling me what to do, particularly if I perceive them to be less technically competent than I am. I actually think it got worse by being in the Marine Corps.
Between the time I left the Marines and started working in the tech field I worked as a lifeguard, construction laborer, brick masons assistant, pizza maker, construction sales, and landscaper. I loved working outside, but I also love making money, and at the time it was a challenge to find an “outside job” that paid enough to allow me to do all the awesome shit I like to do.
