I write to change lives, starting with my own
Many of my articles include personal stories and I often give advice based on what I’ve learned. However, I want to take this opportunity to let my readers and fellow writers know more about who I am, what I write about, and why I write.
Who I am
I’m still figuring out who I am at the age of 53!
In high school, I felt called to become an ordained minister, so I went on to college and then seminary with that goal in mind. I became an ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) pastor in 1998 and began serving a congregation in Pennsylvania.
I met my husband Steve at the seminary and we both expected to be pastors until we retired. That plan changed after we vacationed on Maui in 2001. We loved our time there so much that we sold our house, resigned as pastors, and moved to Maui in 2002. You can read more about that life-changing decision here:
