About Me — Winta Assefa
It’s ‘win-tuh,’ kind of like how British folk say ‘winter.’
I already feel narcissistic writing the first line, but I’m going all-in with these Medium challenges. So, I might as well get this over with.
Hello, fellow earthlings. Here are a few things about this creature:
Where I’m from
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
I was born in Saudi Arabia to an Ethiopian father and an Eritrean mother. I was told that my dad was shocked to see my colossal octopus head in the delivery room. But he got used to it pretty quickly.
Growing up, my family and I had formed our own little habitat. That’s where most of my childhood memories were made.
But things got icky for foreigners & their children well into my teenage years, and it was time to go.
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
My sister and I moved to Ethiopia-dad’s birthplace-in late 2014. A year later, I joined the Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction and City Development (EiABC) to (supposedly) become an architect.
