A Journey from Pangasinan to Self-Discovery
Have you ever felt the exhilarating rush of stepping into the unknown? That’s exactly what I experienced when I decided to move to a new city alone for college. This pivotal moment catapulted me out of my comfort zone and taught me invaluable lessons in independence and self-reliance. Although the transition to a new school mid-semester presented its challenges, it ultimately led me to an environment that perfectly matched my needs, introduced me to incredible people, and played an important role in shaping the person I am today.
My story begins in the beautiful province of Pangasinan, Philippines — also known as the “Pearl of the North.” It was here, in this vibrant culture and tradition, that my artistic journey took flight. The reason? A simple coloring book gifted by my mama. Little did she know that this modest present would ignite a lifelong passion for creativity.
My soul thrives on curiosity, painted with broad strokes of diverse interests. Art, photography, and videography serve as the palette for my creative expression. But my canvas isn’t limited to the visual arts alone. Thanks to my papa, the quintessential athlete, I developed a deep love for sports, be it the rhythmic bounce of a basketball or the lightning-fast reflexes required in table tennis.
One of the brightest highlights of my journey was winning a national art competition in high school. The pride that radiated from my family, the recognition from my school, and even a nod from the mayor, a moment I’ll never forget.
Lessons from the School of Life
Let’s be honest, I wasn’t always the picture-perfect student you might envision. My school days were filled with mischievous pranks and troublemaking, which undoubtedly caused more than a few gray hairs for my parents, teachers, and classmates. However, these experiences weren’t just youthful carelessness, they were invaluable life lessons in disguise.
The turning point came when I learned to acknowledge my mistakes and use them as stepping stones rather than stumbling blocks. While it’s important to explore our interests and have fun, it’s equally important to recognize the ripple effect our actions can have on others.
Architecting a Bright Future
Today, I’m a college student pursuing a career in architecture. Finishing my studies is a top priority, guiding my daily efforts. But life isn’t just about hitting the books. I’m a firm believer in the power of balance, making sure to have quality time with family and continue in my passions. These elements are the essential threads that add richness and depth to my life.
Two mantras serve as the cornerstones of my approach to life:
“Always put one foot in front of the other” — This simple yet powerful motto reminds me to keep moving forward, leaving the past where it belongs.
“It’s now or never” — This battle cry pushes me to seize opportunities, even when uncertainty looms large.
As I journey towards becoming a successful architect, my ultimate goal extends beyond personal achievement. I dream of creating a comfortable life not just for myself, but for my loved ones as well. Although the details might change as I learn and grow, one thing remains constant: the pursuit of happiness
