About Me — Zakiya Payne
Welcome to my world! My name is Zakiya Payne (the I in my name is long)
I am 20 years old, and I am a first-generation college student. I am currently studying Multimedia Journalism. I decided to go to college because I knew it would place me within the right network of people. I was born in High Point, North Carolina, and lived in High Point all of my life. I currently reside in Greensboro, North Carolina, where I attend North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University.
I currently work as a resident assistant on campus and write for a platform called Pretty Girls Sweat. I create commercials for the local radio station as well as help edit blog pieces for a page on Instagram. I am also in courses about coding and digital marketing. I have a research project in the works that I am really excited about (Be on the lookout)! I am an aspiring “Jane Of All Trades.” I want to work in a lot of different places while I am here on Earth.
I love to read, write in my journal, rant about my disdain for social media, tell corny jokes, shop for clothes, and shop for antique items in my free time (I am currently looking for a type-writer). I also like to spend time with my friends and family! I am an introvert, so I enjoy my solitude. When I spend time with my family and friends, I need time to recharge every once in a while.
I have been writing for a few years now. I have written pieces about beauty and lifestyle. I am leaning more towards a lifestyle niche, which led me to Medium! I needed a space where I could write without limits and encourage people to accept who they are!
