About Moi — Sam Ayikeka
The story of a tiny village boy with a dream.
It was a blissful morning in the year 1994 and a conversation ensued between a husband and wife. She was a few months pregnant with their third child, and he demanded that the wife travel back to the village in order to deliver the unborn child there. As with the setting of any African village, it was filled with houses built with mud and branches serving as the pillars of the building with thatched roofs.
Delivered in between the four walls of the mud houses with the aid of old women in the village who embraced me after birth. It was all loud cries for me just like any child, being released from the comfort of the womb into a place called life for the first time. I was named tiny by one of the old women, who helped in my delivery process; because I looked smaller than the average child. Now, I am a mature young man so you can forget about that tiny little child and let me take you on an adventure of my life, that’s if you’re interested.
Where I come from?
Ghana, a country along the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean, in the sub-region of West Africa is where I hail from. Quiet unfortunate; I was born between waters however, I still don’t know how to swim. The closest I got was during my childhood; I would submerge my head into a bucket of water for some seconds and then raise it up again. Those were the swimming lessons I was taking preparing for the Olympics, which of course never materialized.
What do I do?
As an Entrepreneur in progress, apart from writing texts to change people’s lives, I write codes to control people’s lives too; just like what Facebook, Twitter, and Medium do. I don’t believe in doing something for a living, but rather living for something. Hence, most of my time is spent trying to solve problems where I find myself. I have a background in Mathematics and Economics; however, I decided to take a turn and found a passion for computer programming. Taking the lessons in computer programming lead me to envision an idea which was later built and then turned into a startup. Guess what happened to the startup; it failed with the team dissolved. Giving up is something I hardly do; so I have risen up again, dusting myself off to the next venture.
Why did I start writing?
As an avid reader; I love to devour books on personal development, business, Christian literature, and history. Writing was never part of my plans; since the initial concept was to start blogging about my startup in order to create awareness about it. I did that in a few articles, and then all of a sudden started writing to enlighten readers and cause them to think for a change. I am still a work in progress and haven’t reached there yet in my writing career.
My other motivation for writing on Medium is to sharpen the pencil and mind, that would lead me into writing books. I’m crawling; nevertheless, my dream is to fly. Of course, I haven’t authored any book yet only articles.
Hobbies and Interests?
I love to educate myself; that led to my passion for reading. Coding and fixing bugs is also something I’m passionate about, as well as being a handyman. Exercising is also part of my hobbies; I only run to maintain a healthy lifestyle not to win an Olympics medal. My recently found passion is writing and if I’m doing none of these then I am thinking.
Dreams and Future Goals.
The entrepreneur who solves problems for his country, continent, and the world at large, is what I’m aiming at. I am only doing that on a small scale now while enjoying the failures that come with it. I want to make the world a better place before I leave it. On being an Author; I have dreams of authoring 100 books before I bow out.
Thanks for taking the time out to read about me, honored and humbled.
