After years of toying with the idea I’m finally here, writing on Medium.

As for the content? Well, I’m still figuring that part out. But I’m kicking off this writing journey with hopes of discovering my niche along the way.

A bit about me: I’m a creative freelancer based in Amsterdam, chasing my personalised version of the work-from-anywhere lifestyle. The dream is to spend four months in Amsterdam and the other eight months exploring anywhere and everywhere.

This corner of Medium isn’t just another platform for me; it’s a dedicated space aimed at transforming that dream into reality.

About My Writing

As far as I can remember, I’ve always loved the written word. As a child, you'd often spot me with my nose buried in a book or with a trusty pen and journal close by.

My mom raised a girl she had to drag out of stationary stores and away from book shelves.

Back in second grade, I wrote poetry that stood out well enough to grab my teachers’ attention. They asked if I could share my work with third-graders and I did it standing atop a chair, with a little girl’s voice that boomed.

These days I write a lot for my freelance work in social media. Instagram captions, blog posts, website copy, you name it. But does that light a fire under my ass?

No, it doesn’t. It pays for the roof over my head.

It pains me to admit, but I haven’t published any work beyond what I do in my freelance career since 2018. That’s over a 5-year hiatus when it comes to publishing… well… anything.

How can I call myself a writer if I’m hesitant to reveal my personality through words, knowing they’ll be scrutinised by readers? Cutting it short and obvious, I feared judgement — uncertain of how anyone, whoever they might be, would percieve me. That fear weighed heavily on my mind.

Yes, I do write. In the comforts of my own home and within the pages of my private journals.

But no longer will I confine myself to those spaces.

I might not be a scholar, but I am a writer and an explorer of life’s truths. I’m setting goals for myself on Medium this year, and I plan to share my personal findings of life alongside those who care to read it.

So sit back dear reader, stir that cup of tea and enjoy the words written by yours truly.

Short Fun Facts

Given my current uncertainty on what topics I’ll be writing about, here’s a few short bursts of who I am and what I’m interested in:

  • I’m French/Indonesian and going through this little life with ADHD and undiagnosed BPD. Kickin’ off the dirty thirties this year.
  • I was and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia, further groomed at university in Utrecht, and currently developing in Amsterdam as a (semi) functional adult.
  • I’ve lived in four different countries by the time I turned 20, and continue to trot the globe any chance I get (mostly in Europe and Asia, we all have our favourites).
  • I’ve volunteered at psy-trance festivals to pick up trash and dog shelters to clean up kennels.
  • I got emotional watching my first Drag Queen show in Bali during a moving performance of Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’. I screamed the words alongside her and ugly cried, it was entirely wholesome. A memorable night for my queer heart.
  • I’ve been big all my life but have successfully reversed PCOS (naturally) and lost an impressive 30kg/66lbs to match. I’m damn proud of it too.
  • I love animals more than I do people (with dogs, cats, and elephants being top-tier).
  • My dream family scenario is a partner by my side (male or female, I’m not picky) with one bird, two cats, and three dogs. No kids.

That’s it from me, I’m signing off. Thanks for reading something I’ve written. Read from me another time and I’m warning you, I’ll fall in love.
