About Me — Shannon Moose
My name is Shannon Moose, but you can call me Moose
My name is Shannon Moose, and I’m relatively new to the online freelance writing scene. I’m 32 years old; I have a 3-year-old little girl named Sonder and her father — my boyfriend — who I refer to as my “husband”. I have a BA in Multimedia and a passion for writing. I wanted to get a degree in English, but my father knew best for me and suggested I look into computer-related programs. I attempted to work on a second BA in English, but I could not pass math for the life of me.
I started writing for Medium around January 2020 but never went full in until July 2021, as my daughter started preschool, and I have more “free time” — whatever that is.
I grew up in Hawaii — on the island of O’ahu — in a little suburban town called Mililani (pronounced mee-lee-la-knee, try not to put too much emphasis on it, or you’ll sound silly). I was born in Oklahoma, moved to Virginia shortly after my birth, then when I turned 3, we picked up and flew to this little island in the middle of the pacific.
Regardless of my surroundings, I grew up relatively “white” but found my love for the culture of Hawaii and its multi-national diversity to be incredibly down-to-earth and powerful. There truly is no better place to grow up.
