Admire, Don’t Follow
You know why? Because…
Sitting on a bench, near the playground. I was thinking how the summer evenings encourage all Uncles to leave their homes and comfort.
A friend came close to me, saying – whom do you follow nowadays?
I said what?
He said, what or whom are you following? Any social media influencer, ideology of any one.
Or advice from an elder being. Which is – to this or do that to live successfully. (They are children who have grown older – in my opinion)
Answered him – I only admire people.
This answer went like a bouncer above his head. And I went home.
The Blind Following
The word-follow is itself no good. And this also gets more harmful when it carries blindness with it.
Recall that hour or minute, when you see a blind person. Out of nowhere the person got your respect. You hadn’t had any conversation with him. Completely ignoring his personality.
Which is also a great job. Disability is not a reason to smile. And sympathy is what we can give to them.
But the time when you listen to something like – he or she is blindly followed or following someone. Instead of sympathy in your eyes, you pass statements.
It is because we know they are not using their capability to think. And in other words, they are not in their control. Or maybe the person they are following is just passing lies on social media. Because they also know, you are not going to meet him in person.
The Issue With Following
The following is done mostly because people take value from the following person. Value could be anything like entertainment. And let’s be honest, nowadays entertainment is done the wrong way.
After following someone we became biased. And it is obviously the most human thing to us.
You know what this biased behavior creates?
It creates conflicts on different opinions. You will always bend in the direction of the person you follow. Instead of knowing that they could be wrong.
Differences of opinions should be normalized. And if not, the people would divide themselves in groups. With specific thinking and ideology. Which might create even more conflicts.
Admiration
Admiring a person never gives your biased behavior to let in. Every time you will end up only praising this type of person in their positives. And criticizing them at their odds.
While wrapping it all up, it concludes that admiring someone always gives you space. Where you contain some unbiased side. Instead of blind following.
