“Agriturismo” why it is the best accommodation for your next trip

--

Hello everyone, I haven’t posted in a while, but I haven’t forgotten about you. :) Today I would like to take you on a short vacay.

I would like to show you a special type of vacation, which I had the chance to experience in Italy — Tuscany last summer of 2021.

An agriturismo is simply a farm stay, most often family-run.

There are many types throughout Italy, including ones on a vineyard or olive grove.

What is mandatory, though, is fresh and local food, spacious countryside, and a deep dive into the local culture, which is a must for me.

I consider agriturismo one of Italy’s secrets as many international travelers have never heard of or stayed in one.

Everyone who knows me, knows I love Italy. I love the incredible food, wine, language, landscapes, and mentality. Savoring the moment for me means the experience of sipping un cafè which is an espresso, enjoying the famous Mozzarella di Buffala or Balsamic Vinegar.

There are over 5,000 agriturismo in Italy. Most are located in the countryside, with some not far from city centers.

I would like to share with you my experience, which was truly amazing.

My experience Agriturismo I Millepini in Loro Ciuffenna

In the summer of 2021, I had the chance to experience a wonderful stay at Agriturismo Millepini in Toscana.

This is by far one of the most romantic places I have ever been. The lovely Agriturismo is located on the hills of Tuscany, including a wonderful view. The owners did everything in their power to offer a perfect stay.

The most fantastic part of my stay was the restaurant. Local wine, vegetables right out of the backyard, and a wonderful view.

Everything was delicious and prepared so lovely.

The past part for me was of course the food. :)

As I already mentioned, you have the chance to taste great dishes, including locally grown vegetables.

They prepared every dish with so much love that the past part for me every day was dinner time.

All these things aligned with a great view over the hills of Tuscany.

If you’ve read this far, you already know why you should choose an agriturismo for your next holiday in Italy. You can relax in a place more peaceful than any city hotel or spa will ever be while eating genuine, local food. Your children can learn about plants and animals and play with them. You get to know a local family and make new friends, who will help you experience a different lifestyle.

How long should you at least stay at an agriturismo? Many of them, have a minimum of 2+ night stays.

Unlike a hotel, they don’t usually have a reception — the owners are running around doing everything on their own! I’d recommend at least two anyway so you have time to both sightsee and relax.

Do I need a car to stay at an agriturismo? I’d highly recommend you a car if you’re planning to spend some time in the countryside so that you can get yourself around easily. Public transportation is not very common if you are staying outside a village or a town in the vineyards.

I can’t wait to experience an agritursimo again, hopefully soon. Whatever agriturismo you choose, you’re sure to experience a very special slice of Italian culture and rural life that you won’t find in a hotel!

If you have any experiences or recommendations for this kind of vacation, please let me know.
