Writing is a universal medium, much like nonverbal communication, that everyone can understand.

However, making a living from writing is a unique challenge altogether.

Building a relatable presence on a platform takes time and effort.

It’s intimidating to muster the courage to ask, “Am I good enough?”

For me, it all started with Stephen King’s “On Writing.”

The big lesson that I learned from this book was that don’t stop pursuing the things you believe in.

Look at where he is now after several rejections in his early days!

Besides that big one, my three important points are:

  • When you first write something, write it for yourself. When you rewrite it, write it for everyone else.
  • If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot. There’s no way around these two things that I’m aware of, no shortcut.”
  • If you’re a beginner, though, let me urge that you take your story through at least two drafts; the one you do with the study door closed and the one you do with it open.
