Diary of a Struggling Teacher
February 8, 2025 Entry #2
Dear Diary,
69 more school days. It is bad when you begin counting the days. Each day that passes is one day less of life and so as bothered as I am in my current school system, I’ve got to try to not count the days.
It’s not my students. It’s breathing down my neck by those who are in administration, team leader, and department-head roles. At the end of the day, we are all there to serve the students and do what’s best for them; after all isn’t that why we became teachers? So I wonder why they feel the need to work so hard to crush our morale as educators as I know I am not the only one who feels this way. It’s like they are on a power trip.
Unfortunately, there’s a lot wrong with the education system in general. I have been in many schools in my career, and they are all the same in one degree or another. It is unfortunate because for the longest time, all I wanted was to finish my degree and be a licensed teacher, but the bureaucracy makes me want to get out of it, at least full-time. It is my feeling that if they leave us alone and let us do our jobs more teachers would want to stay in general. We aren’t paid enough, and we are beaten down.
I have been looking for another job or career path for over a year and without much success. Maybe I am…
