Starting a YouTube Channel at 56
What do you think about challenges, such as challenging yourself? Does the thought make you feel scared? Empowered? What comes to mind when considering doing something out of your comfort zone?
Beginning to write and put my words online has been uncomfortable but also fun; however, I’m taking it up a notch and pushing myself further. I created a YouTube channel to accompany a Facebook page I started 2 months ago and I uploaded my first video today; this has taken me out of my “zone!”
Making the first videos and splicing them together was not only awkward and cumbersome, it was also empowering. I’m 56 years old and I am sharing this experience hoping that it might inspire anyone nervous about trying something new to take the leap of faith and do it.
Feeling uncertain and contemplating “what odds were against me,” I googled “at 56 am I too old to start a YouTube channel,” and then I thought, who cares, I will never know what will happen unless I try.
After you put yourself out there and finish doing whatever that “scary thing” is that you’ve been contemplating, you will feel amazing! It is such an empowering feeling. So go after it, do it! We only get one life.
I will be documenting my journey, at least briefly, while I “fumble through” making videos.
