From Ball Picker to Basketball Coach
My Greatest Game Story
Everyone likely has a hobby, something you enjoy doing in your spare time. I have always loved and played football, but a serious injury sidelined me for more than a year. This was a very unpleasant period for me, as I could only watch others play while I went through rehab. I attempted several comebacks, but injuries continued to put me back on the shelf.
Since I could no longer play football due to injuries, I developed an interest in basketball, a game I once thought was for lazy people. The basketball court was just across the road, so I started going with friends to watch the more experienced players.
At first, I wasn’t allowed to play because I didn’t know how. We could only stand on the sidelines to watch and help pick up balls that went out of the court. After some time, I became their favorite ball picker and was allowed to bounce balls outside the court. While the game was ongoing, my job was to pick up balls or continue practicing how to bounce the ball outside the court with other young players.
I did this for several months, determined to learn the game and become the best in my city. I even entertained the thought of playing in the NBA because I practiced very hard and was improving my skills. However, they still wouldn’t let me play with the experienced…
