How a Small Birthday Cake Changed How I Will Look At My Birthdays Forever!
How a small birthday cake can affect your perception of the world around you
31/8/2002. I was born 22 years ago as today. Fantastic. And who doesn’t celebrate their birthday? It’s a special day, unique and full of surprises and joys. But this year, honestly speaking, wasn’t like that.
Was it sad? Not at all. Was it melancholy? Not at all. Was it different? Quite. But what for? What was it that made my birthday different? What was it that made this day different? What prompted me to forever change the way I look at my birthdays?
A small birthday cake.

It all started a few days ago, when I began to reflect on my past and what I’ve been through so far. Introspection is what the self-improvement gurus call it. I just call it an internal birthday process.
Anyway, I remembered that last year things were different. I had more friends, and a best friend, my family was healthier and my relatives were closer. I had gone through a serious illness (CMV for the curious), I had returned from vacation and a big birthday cake was waiting for me.
The size? It was going to be around 1 kilo.
