How To Have A More Rewarding Business Life

Seventeen years ago I made a cold call visit to a potential customer, a director of a pathology laboratory. I was very nervous. When I handed over my business card after the end of my sale preach, I dropped the whole pile of my business cards down the floor. It was so embarrassing and I wished I found a hole to hide.
Fast-forward to a month ago, after a work conference, I was in my hotel room and was called by a customer to join him for a drink at the hotel bar. Lo and behold the whole of his work team were there. We sat on the couches and chatted about work and life. They made many positive comments about our company and I was very humbled.
For the last seventeen years, our effort to engage with our customers has paid off.
I was told many times by people in business that we should connect with our customers professionally only. We are in here for business and not making friends. It did not sit well with me.
