How to navigate a life transition

Transitioning to a new life can be stressful; understanding the nature of change and preparing for challenges can help you grow and learn.

Going through any life transition takes time. Even with a change you’ve decided to make, it is still an uncomfortable process.

Small changes in daily life, like water carving stone, reshape us before we even realise it. Meanwhile, big changes like career shifts or relocations are celebrated with fanfare online.

But what’s hidden behind those posts is the emotional rollercoaster, like a calm sea suddenly tossed by a storm. Even the quietest transitions can leave us feeling raw and exposed.

Social media showcases the checkpoints, not the messy journeys, the doubts, and the fears we navigate along the way. 😟

In this article, I’m sharing how I manage my transition.

In “Transitions: Making Sense of Life’s Changes,” William Bridges argues that while change is situational (e.g., a new job, the death of a loved one), it’s the psychological process of adapting to that change, the transition, that we often struggle with.
