Huge Snowstorm Coming Tonight!
And I’m cozy and warm in my cabin
By Barbara Martin
One advantage to living way up here in Northern Maine is its wild natural beauty. Clean, fresh air along with the changing seasons make it a constant, vibrant wonder filled with picturesque scenes no matter where you go.
And although Maine has become a popular travel destination, the frigid temperatures in winter send most visitors scrambling back home.
I get it. Not everyone wants to deal with shorter days with less sunlight or howling winds with snowstorms that can keep you stranded for days.
But since I’m now retired with no particular place I need to be, I love the idea of being stranded, because I’m stranded at home.
Living off- grid means I don’t care if the power goes out because I don’t have electricity anyway. As long as I have a fire going in my woodstove I am toasty warm and comfortable.
And because I daily watch the weather and knew the storm is comming, I got more water from the spring, bought gas for my generator and stocked up on groceries.
I’m ready for the snow!
I’ll make a delicious lasagna on top of the stove and then snuggle in bed reading stories on Medium and watching YouTube videos.
