I Almost Died in an Accident: How ‘Don’t Give Up’ Changed My Life
The counselor I was seeing said something to me that sparked a fire. “You are capable of trying anything…”
I remember that morning so vividly.
It was July 2, 2019. I was heading to my job at Catholic Charities, the last day of work before an extended weekend for me.
The speed limit on that road was 50. The intersection where it happened is one of the most dangerous in South Florida, at least it was then.
The woman that caused the accident just got her license back a week prior, after being suspended for driving without insurance. The day she got it back she canceled her insurance.
The morning of the accident she tried to make a left turn to beat me through an intersection. I had no time to stop.
My car was totaled.
The way she hit me spun me around several times in a busy intersection and my car ended up backwards in a left turn lane of the cross-traffic. I had hit several other things during the spinning.
My car saved my life.
