I Am Writing a Bucket List for My Future Self (And So Should You)
Here’s why and how it’s shaping the life I’m living right now
Most people write bucket lists like they’re racing against time.
“Things to do before I’m 50.”
“Places to see before I’m 60.”
“Adventures to try before my knees give out at 70.”
It’s all very urgent, like life is about to shut the gates at any moment and yell, “Too late!”
A future list. For the future me.
I’m not writing a bucket list for my current self. I’m writing one for my future self. For the woman I’m becoming. The one who turns 70 and still laughs out loud. The one who’s pushing 90 with sass and still says “yes” to dessert. The one who hits 100 (because why not?) and celebrates with a picnic, not a pity party.
I can see your eyes popping. Wait — what? A future list for your future self?
Yes, exactly that. A list for the after.
After 60.
After 70.
After 80.
After I (jokingly) turn 1000 and am hopefully still telling stories.
Why?
