I Didn’t Choose my Career my Career Chose Me
I was sitting in AA history class writing notes when I heard the Holy Spirit tell me, “You will become a photojournalist.” I didn’t even know what that meant at the time because I didn’t even own a camera and I didn’t even know how I would get one. The thought kind of scared me too but I was very intrigued and curious so I ignored it and didn’t think about it again until a few years later.
Until one day in 2019, I prayed to ask God for a DLSR camera and I didn’t know how I would get one. The pandemic rolled around and somehow I was able to get a camera. The Lord placed it before me and I was so happy to begin taking pictures I took my first photo of a shed in a park near my home. Photography quickly became my therapy as I already finished my BA in Mass Communication and Journalism and was working on my writing portfolio here on Medium when I came to the option of pursuing work at a news publication.
I had so many other things in the back of my mind that I didn’t feel ready to sit behind a desk all day and write a blog roll of news so I decided to sign up for my Master of Fine Arts in Photography for photojournalism. The Pandemic didn’t make it easy on anyone so I stayed home…
