STORYTELLING
If I ever have kids…
… I’ll tell them about
If I ever have kids, and they wonder what the marks and dents on people's bodies are, I'm going to tell them that they are stories.
Then I’m going to point to some of mine and say;
"You see this? This is from the time I laughed really hard with my friend when we ate a super good pizza! And this one, pointing to another one, is from when I was watching fireworks with your aunt on New Year’s Eve, and we were wondering how fireworks form the patterns they do.
And these ones here, they're super special! This one is from when I met your dad and we fell in love and this big one is from when we had you.
When you get older you might have some of your own, and some people might tell you it looks weird or not beautiful. If they do, I want you to tell them what I'm telling you now, that they are stories — your stories and that there's nothing weird about them. Then, if they want to share, I hope you'll be open to hearing about their marks and dents.
You might end up with yet another story to add, and they, with a new perspective on theirs."
