Life here can be quite challenging, but my determination and hard work paid off when I finally received acceptance into a prestigious Government Medical College. In this concise article, I aim to provide insight into the hurdles I overcame to reach this milestone, as well as my aspirations for the future.

Before I begin my story I want to introduce my new account on Medium — Jwngsat Narzary-Medico. Do follow and support me there. I’ll be joining the Medium Partner Program there. I was thinking of joining; in fact, I already did with this account, but I had some problems with Stripe payment, and I closed the Stripe account that was linked. This led to Medium revoking my MPP. Now I’m unable to join MPP with this account. So I’ll start my Medium journey with that account.

Coming back to the original topic, let’s start with the struggle a student put to land into a Government Medical College in my country.

This year, about 25,00,000 Medical aspirants took the NEET-UG exam. It’s the fourth toughest exam in India. There are roughly about 50,000 government seats and another 50,000 seats in private medical colleges.

MBBS course in a private medical college will cost you from 100k to 500k USD. The course is for four and a half years. For the majority, this isn’t affordable. I also came from a middle-class family, so, the mentioned amount is out of our bucket list.

Therefore I worked hard. And finally, I secured a seat in the government Medical College. I opted for Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital. It’s a new Medical College; I still opted for it because this year, there was cut-off inflation, and I couldn’t get a seat in my preferred college. The college is beautiful and has high-end facilities for learning and research. They charged us 260 USD for admission, and the monthly hostel fee is 40 USD, which is decent for a Government Medical College.

Finally, I’m now an MBBS student. You can now call me a Medico, I’ll be a Doctor in the future. This is a proud moment for me and my family.

Hard Work& Consistency — Key to Succeed

I did a lot of hard work. Trust me when I say this. Competing with 25,00,000 medical aspirants isn’t easy. It takes sheer determination and hard work to achieve it. I studied daily for 12–14 hours, sometimes regularly. I left Medium, and I didn’t write anything from October last year. I left social media, but I didn’t leave gaming Mobile Legend. Haha!!

U-Turn — Agriculture To Medical

I was already a BSc Agri(Hons) student at a Government Agriculture College. I passed the state CET(UG) entrance exam and bagged a government seat in a very reputable Agricultural university.

I rethought my career; medicine was my choice. And I felt I was made for it. So, I left agriculture after joining for a few months and dropped out. Finally, I’m here, at the right place — A Medical Student/A Medico.

Conclusion &Personal View On Medical

In the end, I’ll just say my hard work paid off. I’m now a proud Medico. I’m glad that I chose this Noble Profession. I’m glad that I’ll be serving humanity and society. For the sick and the needy — I’ll always keep a soft corner for them. Serving people with love and care.

I’m also glad that I have a few audiences on Medium. Thank you all. I’ll always be here on Medium sharing my life journey. And don’t forget my second account — Jwngsat Narzary-Medico. I’ll be joining the partner program there. I can’t join with this account. I’ll keep this too.
