About Me — A.E. Jackson
Explore the Uncanny
Greetings Medium! I love this community — vibrant, growing, and engaged.
I am excited to participate, contribute, and discover more about all of you.
This is my introduction post — pleased to meet you — I am A.E. Jackson … here’s a bit about me…
I write uncanny speculative fiction under the pen name A.E. Jackson. From a young age, I dreamed of being a published author.
My first self-published work, Realms of Adventures, was a play-by-post roleplaying blog. Readers followed the bold adventures experienced by the players.
Currently, I am the Director of Marketing and Analytics at The Bridge, a non-profit Christian radio station serving Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and New Jersey — and online.
I am responsible for a marketing team that expands the reach of the ministry. Everything from billboards, direct mail, social media, email, and text messaging to websites, digital video, and exploration of new technologies.
The ‘work’ is a ton of fun — and I am thankful to be able to use my talents and passions to serve God — and my community — in this unique way.
In 2006, I founded Poor Irishman Internet Marketing. The one man company operated for over six years.
I offered internet marketing services including: website creation & management, content marketing, search engine optimization, pay-for-performance marketing, and social media marketing.
By 2010, I took a position with Dover Downs Hotel & Casino as a Marketing Database Analyst for a brief time. Soon, the opportunity arose to leave that position and start working with the exceptional team at The Bridge!
Originally from Delaware (born & raised), I attended college in West Virginia, and then moved to Wyoming.
After a short stint in Seattle, Washington … I headed back home. On arriving home, I started a business, and got married.
In December 2009, our first baby was born — a girl. Wow — what a blessing! In December 2013, a baby boy arrived. He was born at home, and I actually delivered the newborn!
Together, with my wife Jessica, I’ve led Financial Peace University classes in our region — guiding others toward debt freedom, good stewardship, and wealth building.
We encourage others to live enriched, healthy lifestyles drawn from personal experience and generations of wisdom passed down through our family.
My Medium blog will feature short stories, interactive fiction, and informative articles. There are plans to start several publications that bring together like-minded writers and readers.
The first is already live — Trusted Book Reviews! If you enjoy reading, check out the reviews to help decide what should be on your ‘to be read’ list.
Some of the first books I read were from the Choose Your Own Adventure series.
The small children’s books allow the reader to become the main character. Each plot changes based on decisions made by the reader.
There can be many possible endings — but they may only be discovered by the reader making choices.
At this point in my exploration of interactive fiction, I have rekindled the desire to write my own gamebook or interactive narrative.
I’ve been gaining the necessary knowledge to guide the way, and the tools to build the work.
In 2017, I experienced a media flight with the United States Air Force Thunderbirds. The Aerial Demonstration Team performed at Thunder Over Dover, and reached out to local media for press coverage.
I was selected and met with the pilot for a briefing. Soon the F-16 rocketed down the runway and up into the sky to perform a series of maneuvers.
During the flight, I sustained a maximum of 9.2 Gs, and was allowed to take the stick and fly the F-16 Fighting Falcon!
It was one of the best experiences of my life!
My recent adventures include travel to Malawi Africa with CUPS Mission.
In 2021, I went on my first mission trip ever. The experience was life changing. Since then, I’ve returned every year — and in 2024 I am leading a small team.
While in “the warm heart of Africa,” we visit and serve at River of Life Organization. They operate a medical clinic, vocational training school, and a pastor’s school.
