My family is about to have a reunion
If you read in the news that Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia, has had some kind of invasion, it will be my family’s first Fox Family Reunion.
My mother’s family reunions started in 1947 and have been an annual event ever since. But through the years, many of our children have moved south and had children of their own, so getting to the reunions got harder and harder.
So this year, we decided to have a reunion of my father’s side of the family and hold it in a central location for all of us, instead of central New York.
It turns out that the location is Harper’s Ferry. It will be a six hour drive for both those of us coming from the south and those coming from the north. The cousins (my, my brother’s, and my sister’s kids) have arranged the whole thing and kindly included their parents in on the plans. They chose the spot, the hotel, and are making dinner reservations and investigating the area for interesting things for our entertainment.
Therein lies the rub. We are three generations, and what is entertainment for some may not be so entertaining for others. Our ages range from 71 to my sister’s three-year-old grandson.
