Lessons I Learned Growing Up

I will be eternally grateful that I grew up in a home that taught me and my sister to be independent. We learned from our parents to be our own person, do and think for ourselves and make the most of life. This may mean pushing against societal norms and expectations, but you will be so much the better for it.

I feel sad for so many that jump on the latest hype, buy what everyone else is buying, do what everyone else is doing and spend more time trying to look or be cool. That’s so much wasted energy in my opinion.

Being a lemming is not what I want or you should want. If you look deep inside yourself you will probably realize you’re not living your life, you’re living someone else’s.

Is that what you really want? I doubt it. Each of us has a limited time on earth. Make the most of it.

Here are the key lessons I learned growing up. There are probably others, but these are my top four.

Be Yourself

Every human is unique. Each person wants to do or learn different things. So run after your passion, your interests and not what the lemmings are running after. Who cares if what you want to do isn’t what everyone else does. You are not other people.
