Lies, Lies And More Lies
A Book Celebration
The problem, when you start writing, is that we all try to be ‘writerly’, instead of writing in your own unique voice.
Now of course that could just be me! But if you’ve faced that issue, then look no further than the first rule of Method Writing (by Jack Grapes). Which is: ‘Write like you talk.’
And it really is that. You sit down and you just write like you talk: as if you were talking to a friend in a cafe.
What happens is magic.
You start to find your own voice. And NOBODY else has that voice!
Anyway, I digress. The reason for sharing this is that I’m delighted to be asked to host a book launch on Saturday 8th December for a new book by Jules Swales called:
Lies, Lies, and More Lies: How to Create and Build Fictional Characters
A couple of weeks ago I was on a Zoom with the nine writers featured in Lies, Lies and More Lies as I’ve been helping them with their marketing. When Jules (the author of the book) said, “Would you host our book launch?” Eleven pairs of eyes stared at me on the Zoom call. Pixalated faces were waiting to hear my response. I was flattered and flustered all in one go! I could hear my mantel clock ticking the minutes away. “I’d love to,” I said.
