One Dream I Hope Won’t Come True
This was one strange dream, and if there is a point to it, I’m missing it
Sleep had been my enemy for years, and the night was its hiding place, one that swallowed the world, so eventually, I had to surrender to it. I never had “sweet dreams,” and it took me years to fight off my night terrors. But eventually, I won the battle. I’m not scared anymore. Today, my confusing dreams outnumber my horrific ones. However, they all can still be incredibly vivid. And I’ve come to understand that dreams, especially the memorable ones, have a meaning.
I am not a superstitious or religious person, but too often, a particularly realistic dream would prove to have some significance later on in my life. I dreamed of helping a deer once, and then my tax return came in after weeks of waiting. I dreamed of going to a strange classroom and sitting at a strange desk; a week later, the class had to change rooms because the lab had caught fire.
I want to stress that I believe in scientific fact. In these instances, I believe that my subconscious put together certain facts to predict a likely outcome, and that outcome filtered through my dreams. Still, it’s happened enough and has proven…
