IT’S MY LIFE
One Of The Greatest Days Ever
Even the angels sang just for me
When I entered the Woodruff Arts Center that morning, stepped into an empty elevator, and pressed 3, my heart danced in anticipation. It was my first day at The Alliance Theater Company.
After three desperate rounds of interviews along with twenty-plus candidates, and a mock assignment to showcase our abilities (or non-abilities), I was hired as their new in-house graphic designer.
The salary was non-profit-slim. I had not earned so little since my first job in advertising almost twenty years earlier.
But after the horror of 3 days working part-time at The Gap, a short stint at H&R Block, and finally, cold-call telemarketing? Reading from a prepared script and getting cursed out and hung up on at least twice daily?
