Life does throw challenges at us that sometimes compels us to doubt our strength. In such situations, the glow of prayer has been an enlightenment that offers solace, clarity, and hope when most needed.

I remember that phase of my life when it felt like a storm raging without end. Balancing my responsibilities as a mother with the management of the home and then being able, if at all, to carve time out for my self-growth was enormously overwhelming.

Oftentimes, I would lie awake at night torturing myself with endless questions of anxiety as to how that was going to happen. My mind was one massive riot of questions with no possible answers.

One evening, I watched my children playing. They were carefree and full of happy noise. I understood a vital truth. Their innocence and faith recalled to me the lessons that my parents had imparted during my childhood.

They said, “Prayer is important”.

That night, I started praying, not in a conventional way, but from my heart to the universe.

I remember sitting alone in some corner, bringing everything out. Perfectly crafted words were absent. There was no script. The raw emotion and desire for strength spoke unto themselves.

I prayed for peace, direction, and the strength to carry on. While praying, something like a sense of calm came over me, like an assurance telling me that I was not alone.

Slowly, I started allowing prayer into my daily routine. It was my morning ritual. It was the moment from the chaos I could take to ground myself. I learned to give over what I couldn’t control and to make space for what I could by praying.

I became more patient and present. It developed a sense of appreciation for various little joys surrounding me.

Although prayer didn’t solve my problems instantly, it taught me to deal with them. It gave me strength during painful moments, clarity when I was confused, and gratefulness when I was probably not going to count my blessings.

There is still hope in darkened spots.

Today, prayer is my anchor. It’s my way of reconnecting with my inner self, finding peace, and drawing strength from a power greater than myself.

Whenever life seems overwhelming, I remind myself of this simple truth.

“Prayer doesn’t change the world around you, but it changes you — and that makes all the difference.”

Have you ever experienced the calming power of prayer in your life?

How has it helped you face challenges?

Thank you for reading!

Namaste!
