The Introvert’s Guide to Networking on LinkedIn
My Strategy for Connecting with Professionals
As an introverted person, I’ve always found it challenging to strike up conversations at social gatherings and networking events. For a long time, I believed that my introverted nature would prevent me from expanding my professional network and benefiting from the connections I made. However, I discovered a killer strategy that has helped me connect with professionals on LinkedIn and allowed me to do so without engaging in direct conversations. Curious? Let me share my secret with you.
The Killer Strategy: Turning Presentations into Connections
When attending conferences, presentations, or other professional events, I make it a point to identify individuals I’m interested in connecting with. Instead of approaching them directly, I attentively listen to their talks and take note of the key points they discuss. After the event, I craft a LinkedIn post that highlights these key points and tags the speaker to express my gratitude for their insightful presentation. This approach has led to numerous professionals responding to my posts and, in turn, opening the door for me to connect with them.
