From Complaints to Solutions

We all complain to one degree or another it’s human nature, but does that get us anywhere except maybe to irritate the people around us?

I believe there is something to be said for, “Change your thoughts, change your life.” (Wayne W. Dyer) Focusing on what we have versus what we don’t; what if that is the key to building a stable life?

We aren’t promised a “rose garden” and there are always going to be problems but instead of complaining about them what if we face them head-on, learn from them and take the skills, knowledge and education we have and build on that using it to drive us forward?

That’s the thought that’s come to mind since writing my first Diary of a Struggling Teacher entry/article last week. I think it’s something worth exploring. Journaling is very helpful and I do it daily. I even have my students do it every day at the start of class. When we journal, we release our thoughts onto the paper which helps us in a variety of ways. We are released of that pressure in our minds; just getting it out is huge and then once it’s on the paper, we have the opportunity to see it differently and that is where I believe solutions reveal themselves.
