Why I Still Choose to Write on Medium
The Quiet Platform That Never Left Me
I stumbled onto Medium at the very inception of my journey as a writer. I didn’t know much about it then — only that it seemed to attract an unusually thoughtful crowd. People here were probing the edges of culture, technology, mindfulness, ambition. Everyone, it seemed, was riding a wave, or perhaps even making one. That sense of momentum — of minds in motion — was enough to keep me coming back.
In the beginning, my posts didn’t garner much attention. A smattering of views, the occasional clap. But that was never the point. I wasn’t chasing virality — I was seeking kinship, a quiet seat at the table of a conversation that felt worth having.
Over time, I began to take the craft more seriously. Invitations to contribute to various publications trickled in, and while those gestures didn’t drastically increase my readership or engagement, they did something far more valuable: they sharpened my thinking. My writing matured. And slowly, my audience evolved into something more attentive, more discerning.
Financially, however, it was negligible. Until one day — I noticed a ten-dollar balance in my stats dashboard.
