My Document Poem

The changes that I made in my document poem are to represent the irony in the horrible situation that happened to Solomon Northup. Mainly, the irony stems from the fact that while Northup’s citizenship and freedom were taken away from slave traders in 1941; the media, after he is freed again, cannot even spell his name correct. In both places where is name is spelled there are two different misspellings (“Northurup” and “Northrop”) again taking away his identity just as the slave traders did 12 years prior.
