Marriage? Do Women Need It?
So I made a decision to take a small break from my project. The reason why is because I started to get bored with my topic. It seems as though everything was the same thing being said in a different form. I guess this week I was looking for the chance to engage myself in other literary works and phenomenal films. Apparently, Gone with the Wind was listed on the course syllabus for this week and I thought, yes!
So for this post I want to look at the male role of marriage and how it pertains to the perception that men have towards women. The the following clip, Rhett and Scarlett has a conversation about the ideals of marriage and what Scarlett is yearning for:
In this clip its like Rhett insinuate that Scarlett is desperate for attention from a man. Like a kiss is what she yearns for, “its her connection” to fulfilling a “internal lust.” On the other hand, its like Scarlett has to behave a certain way in order to have hopes of getting a man to marry her; I mean really is it that serious? I guess I am speaking from a different era of time but in the following clip, Mammy give her some rules about what a man says amd what he is actually looking for in an “eating woman.”
So far, I have learned that a woman can want something but not be too desperate for it, be yourself only at a minimal and if going on an outing with the opposite sex make sure you eat before you leave.
