Some Conscious Calendar Tips

Here are some tips to help you use your calendar in a conscious way.

  1. Block off time for yourself. Start with one block and build from there. That block can be as short as 15 minutes. Simply use it as a springboard for more blocks. Build that first block right after you’re done reading this blog post.
  2. You’re not inhuman; don’t give yourself an inhuman schedule. You’re human, so make it more humane.
  3. Color in your calendar is your friend. Color acts as a visual filter. Use color… but use it consciously.
  4. Your calendar holds the directory for your days. Your to-do list holds the details of your days. Keep that in mind and put as few tasks as possible on your calendar.
  5. An analog calendar connects you to your commitments while isolating you from other digital noise. It’s a good idea to keep one, either in the form of a monthly flip calendar or a yearly wall calendar.
  6. When you use Daily Themes, you fill your calendar with focus, yet the white space prevents you from feeling overwhelmed. Give them a try.

The calendar can help you create certainty in a world teeming with uncertainty. That’s a pretty powerful thing.

I’ve partnered up with NeuYear on a wall calendar for a number of years and the 2021 edition is now available. You can order yours here.
