Something Good
“Go do something good.”
These are the last words from the final episode of The Good Place podcast, a companion to the recently-ended TV show of the same name. If you’ve never watched the show, do yourself a favour and give it a look. It’s rare that moral and ethical lessons – using philosophy as their trigger – can be taught through a situation comedy, but The Good Place does it exceptionally well.
The good thing about following through on the advice the podcast suggests is that you ultimately get to decide what is good. Your version of good is going to be different than mine or the next person’s. While I think it’s important to consider the general idea of what is considered good against what isn’t, the degrees are not the same from one person to the next.
In a sense, doing something good is as subjective as it gets.
