This is part of my regular conversations with soul, against the backdrop of the elections in France, where I live, the recent Supreme Court ruling, which fills me with horror, and drilling going on next door which vibrates right through me. It’s not always easy to tune in, but the effort itself brings relief.

The events of your present are hard indeed to swallow. We don’t know sometimes how man bears them. But we allow rest for those who join us here in these quiet places in the heart where soul and spirit unite and are restored to wholeness.

Peace. What is it that man aspires to truly? Is it riches? Power? Or just to contemplate the trickle of a mountain stream, knowing his work is complete, that nothing hangs in the air, the knowing that all is well?

I think many would lay down their lives if they could grant this to their families, the freedom from worry and pain. The knowing all is well.

So how is this achieved? You are here today, on this craggy mountain with me, observing the world from a distance and higher up. Is it not a relief to be away from it all? To have a break, a real break just to breathe and compose yourself.

This is the lesson that anyone can master. To be alone on a mountaintop without burdens, without feelings of culpability or loneliness, open to all that may be, knowing that much of it is good and healing, and right.

This knowledge is peace. It is allowing the good to come in where it can find lodging and acceptance and sustenance.

Allow it to grow and spread until all is truly well.
