Blogs have certainly changed the ways in which information is disseminated online. And frankly, anyone can be a ‘journalist’ nowadays and the content can be very rich in diversified and personally-likened driven. Below, I looked and analyzed three bloggers: Kraig Doremus, writer at Front Office Sports; Kelsey McKinney, freelance reporter; and Greg Satell, keynote speaker.

Doremus is the NASCAR and motorsports contributor for Front Office Sports, a sports business storytelling brand. The three posts examined either NASCAR and its use of increased analytics for productivity and growth and Toyota’s evolution to a mobility company. For Toyota, Doremus diagnosed how the company continues to evolve, encompassing a mobility stance for all, by adding six new partnerships to Team USA for the 2020 summer Olympics. For NASCAR’s analytics and digital advancement, he told readers at how the sport is using data from sponsors to drive return on investment and how the sport used VR activations to engage fans through Coca-Cola.

McKinney’s posts looked alternatively at movie culture and another, the church. First, she critiqued how Hollywood emulates movies from the past and how that was elevated in the Great Depression with Jezebel and Gone with The Wind. Her second post is about how Hillsong Church’s worship music has soared to new heights presenting a new style of worship music.

Satell writes about how human breakthroughs occur and people’s passion for each other and results in their industries. Also, Satell gave anecdote on how three top players in technology, IBM, Google, and Amazon innovate differently. He begins with Google mirroring IBM then explaining how Amazon has uniquely cultivated their culture.

Altogether, each of these blogs presents gripping and knowledgable information. For example, Doremus uses multiple sources in his interviews, headers, and hyperlinks well. I believe those are Doremus’s strengths; however, each read was only several minutes and felt like more information could have been said. McKinney and Satell both use experience in their writings while McKinney employs a deep desire for statistics and facts in her examined posts. Satell includes outside links and often mentions a failure then describes how is countered while reflecting a soft news and information pursuing feel. Each employs reputable strengths as they all possess a following, but several improvements should be more multimedia or reader engagement. McKinney’s Hillsong story was longer in nature allowing more room for video and pictures.

In all, these bloggers exhibit a well-rounded sense of their reader and display relevant content in a consumable, personal way.
