Seth Godin had a recent post on competition and comparison where he talked about the irony of close competition.

The funny thing is that competition and comparison is for losers.

Competition and comparison is unlikely to add more value to the life of an individual or the stages of growth in a startup or corporation.

The best companies come out with something new and different that helps to move the needle.

Great companies help to add new knowledge and provide for a collective evolution.

See Google, see Uber and Zoom.

Each and every single one of these companies improve the game and bring about new metrics and systems.

They’re all catering to customer needs that were always present but they changed the experience.

Be customer centric but have an eye on what the new venture would bring to the table.

What strengths does it have and how will it elevate the customer experience?

Learn the current landscape and know how to get in the game.

Finally, stay in the game and change the game.
