My mom is a force for good in the world

My mom is a force for good in the world. I realized this at a very young age.

I have witnessed firsthand her tireless caregiving, ever-present kindness and deep commiseration towards pretty much every nearby human.

When I was about six years-old I asked my mom if she was ever going to die. She said she would eventually. I was torn. I told her this was completely unacceptable because she was the best person I knew and God absolutely did not have the right to take her life. After she explained to me that death makes no exceptions I was still determined to die with her, as an act of retaliation against such great injustice.

Full disclosure, I am legally a mammal and there’s got to be some genetics in this admiration I feel towards my mom. That aside, I still think she is the best mom out there.
