We work hard to protect your personal information and to safeguard the Academy Token ecosystem. As an ACAD holder, there are certain precautions and considerations that you can take to help us maintain the integrity of the ACAD community.

Here are a few tips for keeping your information secure:

Keep it to yourself.

Nobody but you needs to know the particulars of your accounts. Sharing personal information with anyone may put that content at risk in a number of ways. Personal details such as email addresses, Ethereum addresses and other information should be kept confidential to prevent the misuse or unauthorized use of accounts by anybody other than the account’s owner.

Do NOT post your own address etc. onto community groups. It’s important to protect your own credentials.

Know who to trust.

Identify the authority figures in each of your Telegram conversations and communities to prevent confusion. Users with administrative privileges will have an admin tag beside their name whenever they contribute to the conversation in the main chat body. You can also find out who a community’s administrators are at any time by looking at the group’s information page. There, admins will have stars beside their names to differentiate them from other group members.

Know who you’re talking to.

Before you send or respond to a private message on Telegram, check the username of the person you are corresponding with. A brief, but careful assessment of a person’s username can prevent the inadvertent distribution of content to unknown or untrustworthy parties.

Understand questionable behavior.

Certain messages, requests, or errors should trigger your suspicion that something might be amiss. Understanding what constitutes an atypical procedure or correspondence can help you preemptively identify a threat to your personal security. Here are some examples of situations to approach with skepticism:

  • Errors. Phishing attempts are easy to pick out if you are paying attention; they usually include misspelled words, phrases, URLs, domains, and more. Scrutinize all incoming emails, new channels, and posted websites for spelling errors or inconsistencies.
  • Private Messages. Our real admins will NOT send a private message to you on our smart contract address. Be wary of any messages that appear to be from this address, as they are undoubtedly fraudulent and made to mislead users relying on our trust. To reduce the risk of compromising your information, do not respond to these messages.

Use these simple tips to stay vigilant in your communities. Together, we’ll ensure a safe, reliable experience for all ACAD users.
