Limitations and Issues in the Market

For Japan’s advertising agencies, it is a typical business model to provide advertisers with advertising media and receive commissions for them, but in the online environment, they are also involved in the overall campaign development including advertising production and/or cross-media planning.

On the other hand, advertising agencies in Japan do not operate in accordance with the principle of ‘one company, one business industry’. The fact that one advertising agency receives advertisements from several companies within one business industry means not only that it makes a contrary situation where doing the best for the profit of one advertiser endangers that of another, but also that promotional plans or advertisements from multiple companies within a business industry may be shared through that advertising agency. Merely relying on the advertising agency’s conscience for fair operation is not enough to satisfy advertisers in regards to their ad performances.

Advertising media have other complaints too. Advertising agencies consume advertisements in the form of delivering both the advertisements directly ordered from the advertiser and that through RTB to the advertising medium. Since both types of advertising are consumed according to the frequency and unit price determined by the advertising agency, it is difficult to receive either an efficient advertisement matching the characteristics of the advertising medium or the high-quality advertisement of a high-priced advertisement. Hence, there is a suspicion that perhaps the volume of ordered advertisements consumed is being prioritized over the convenience of the advertisers and the advertising media.

Such inefficiency can be attributed to the advertiser’s dependence on the advertising agency regarding the overall process of the advertising production and delivery. But more importantly, because the operation of the advertising agency is a black box to outside advertisers and advertising media, the performance of the advertisements and sales of advertising media are dubious.

Idea & Concept

As described in the ‘Limitations and Issues in the Market,” the current situation where the advertising agency has authority over the consumption of advertisements may lead to disadvantages to either the advertiser or the medium. Hence, we will make the ACA Network a fair and transparent advertising production and trading platform by using block chain and smart contract technology. It will be a new platform that provides the necessary resources for advertisement production and divides the authority of producing ads that were led by the advertisement agency to the advertiser and advertising medium. The resulting cost savings will enable advertisers, advertising media, and advertising production partners participating in the ACA Network to deliver more efficient ads with lower fees.
