A night to remember as Acast shows win big at the British Podcast Awards
VENT Documentaries crowned Podcast Of The Year, plus 39 other winners
Last weekend was all about one huge event that had the entire nation gripped. That’s right, after weeks of anticipation and nail-biting drama, Saturday saw the return of the British Podcast Awards — and, once again, shows from the Acast network brought it home.
Our podcasts scooped 15 of the 30 Gold awards on offer, and 40 of the total 84 awards that were up for grabs — one more than the monster haul achieved by our incredible podcasters this time last year.
VENT Documentaries, which also won the Best Documentary Podcast and Smartest Podcast awards, was crowned Podcast Of The Year. The show — created by the team at VICE UK to tell powerful stories of young people in London — becomes the fourth Acast podcast in a row to receive this ceremony’s most coveted gong.
And, in three categories — The Listeners’ Choice, Best Lockdown Podcast, and Best True Crime — Acast shows took home all three Gold, Silver and Bronze awards.
Gold winners from the Acast network this year included Some Families, Who Killed CJ Davis?, Stars In Your Ears, The Intelligence by The Economist, and BBC podcasts Where Is George Gibney? and Grounded With Louis Theroux — all chosen by a panel of podcasting experts, alongside votes cast by listeners.
Acast helps these podcasts — and 28,000 others — continue to produce award-winning content by monetising listens globally through sponsorship, advertising, and listener engagement. Thanks to our support for the open podcasting ecosystem, shows that are part of the Acast network are available to fans across any and every podcast platform, app or device.
