By Johan Billgren, co-founder of Acast
When we founded Acast we did so with a simple goal: to make podcasts better for everyone.
Our plan was to increase the breadth and depth of content for listeners, by supporting the creators who were tirelessly putting out the shows they loved.
Fast forward to today, and Acast is the world’s biggest podcast company. We’re the only truly global, end-to-end podcast service that can take creators from bedroom heroes to worldwide success stories.
Now, we’re making the best tools in the industry available to everyone by launching Acast Open — a one-stop shop that puts the market-leading tools and metrics we developed for the likes of My Dad Wrote A Porno in your hands.
We acquired Pippa earlier this year so we could offer the power of the world’s most sophisticated podcasting engine to every show, big or small — because you never know what the next global hit will sound like.
Acast Open is our new product pulling all of that together, and we’ve made the entry-level subscription tier completely free of charge.
It makes good on our desire to support all creators, listeners and advertisers with whatever they need from the industry, by powering a more sustainable and open ecosystem for all.
We’ll be keeping a keen eye on sign-ups to Acast Open and, if we believe a show can attract a significant enough listenership to command sponsorship from advertisers, we may invite them to join our premium network.
For those already part of our network, nothing changes — they’ll still get the premium Acast service they know and love, but we will be introducing some great new tools and features for them in the coming months.
