Looking forward with Split

Since we first seeded Split Software just over a year ago, co-founders Adil, Patricio and Trevor have experienced many “founding moments,” like building a strong team and winning over early customers. The latest of which is successfully raising its Series A, which they announced today.

By pioneering the “controlled rollout” through their software, Split allows engineering teams to safely test new ideas with targeted groups, and roll them back instantly if there’s an issue.

Having already earned the affection of customers like TalkDesk, Segment, thredUP, and WePay, Split is experiencing the type of momentum that occurs when a product solves a critical pain point. In today’s economy — where competition increasingly pushes companies to deliver value through software — Split accelerates innovation by reducing risk in individual feature releases. How are they doing this? By pioneering the “controlled rollout” through their software, Split allows engineering teams to safely test new ideas with targeted groups, and roll them back instantly if there’s an issue. Their software also makes it possible for anyone to handle the rollout process — regardless of the complexity of their product or service. Now, product or marketing teams can launch features without engineering assistance and support, effectively ending the bottlenecks so many companies experience.

The impact of this is clear: companies can now deliver on the promise of a seamless customer experience that’s continuously improving. With Split, businesses can understand what’s working or not and why, allowing future business decisions to be data-driven ones.

The broad adoption of developer tools from companies like Atlassian, Github, Amazon Web Services — and many others — underscores the big and growing opportunity to serve the developer community. Because software development isn’t just the domain of technology companies any more. Non-tech companies spent billions in 2016 acquiring technology companies — and the software these companies develop — to fuel their long-term growth ambitions. To ensure those ambitions are met, they’ll need to turn to companies like Split, who are transforming how software is delivered.

[At] RelateIQ, I got to know Adil, Patricio and Trevor personally. It’s a tremendous source of pride when we get to work with people in our community multiple times.

But what makes Split particularly special to us is the team. As a board member of RelateIQ, I got to know Adil, Patricio and Trevor personally. I got to see first-hand their entrepreneurial spirit, technology instincts and focused execution. When they came up with the idea for Split, I was happy to support them. As Accel co-founder Arthur Patterson recently noted, it’s a tremendous source of pride when we get to work with people in our community multiple times.

And as you might expect, I couldn’t keep my partner Steve Loughlin from getting involved. Given his past position as CEO of RelateIQ, it’s especially meaningful to him to be in a position to help the team. Together, we’re looking forward to helping the Split team through future “founding moments” as they get after an expanding and interesting opportunity.
