Solana Labs, in collaboration with Dialect, has announced the launch of Solana Actions and Blinks, with Access Protocol, Jupiter, Backpack, Tensor, Sphere Labs, and other leading Solana projects joining as launch partners.

Access Protocol leverages Actions and Blinks to deliver one-click purchases of staked ACS subscriptions to The Block and Crypto, denominated in SOL.

What Are Solana Actions & Blinks?

Solana Actions are APIs that deliver signable transactions to protocol-specified programs. Blinks introspect Solana Actions APIs and construct interfaces for simplified user experiences.

In the case of Access Protocol, Solana Actions enable users to purchase staked ACS subscriptions in SOL, while Blinks unfurl the transaction via mapped links in widely accessible interfaces like publication sites and even on X.

Subscription purchases denominated in SOL are live for both CryptoSlate and The Block. Both companies plan to integrate the checkout experiences directly into their sites. Access Protocol plans to roll out Solana Actions and Blinks for an additional 20 creators in the next week, with the goal of extending the feature to all 160 creators on the platform in the near future.

“Solana Actions and Blinks are absolute game-changers for the crypto space and the Access Ecosystem,” said Andreas Nicolos, CEO at Access Labs. “Solana Actions simplify the user onboarding experience while Blinks expand the total surface area for engagement. The impact of these two products combined cannot be overstated.”

How Do Blinks Work Exactly?

Protocols map transaction links to a specific Solana Action. Blinks are the technology that unfurl the links in an easy-to-use interface via browser extensions. Users of the Backpack wallet benefit from Blinks integrated directly into the wallet.

Other wallet users simply download the Blinks extension, created by Dialect, and select the wallet they wish to enable Blinks on.

With over eight leading Solana teams leveraging Solana Actions and Blinks on the first day of launch, the product shows much promise. Over time, expect to see more complex implementations of the technology that further simplify user experiences.
