It’s not long now until access travels down to the Big Smoke for our launch event at Phonox, Thursday 5th October.

Glasgow is our city theme of choice, a place of burgeoning musical talent as of recent years. It’s a renowned for its vibrant culture, which has seeped into the nightlife throughout the years, bringing with it institutions like Subclub. Artists such as Jackmaster, Jasper James and Denis Sulta are dominating the scene at the moment. The team here at access thought it would be a perfect time to crack open a Buckfast and introduce London to Glaswegian culture.

Along for the ride are none other than Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, a household name up in the North when it comes to electronic music. Launched in late 2012 by label heads Dan Monox and The Wasp after gaining reputable respect as DJs in their own right, the Glasgow based label has established itself as one of the most exciting and influential to emerge from the house and techno scene. DABJ have honoured a quality over quantity approach with each of the releases on the label, working with show-stopping standout names like Marquis Hawkes, Vernon, Denis Sulta, Big Miz, Jared Wilson and TX Connect. Both Monox and The Wasp are expert selectors and technical DJs, having had long-standing connections with Rubadub and the surrounding Glasgow nightclubs. Their mixes have found incredible acclaim on Rinse FM, Boiler Room, XLR8R, Juno Plus whilst being able to hold down an array of the best clubs across the rest of the UK, Europe and even the Middle East. The hardworking pair like to keep things simple when it comes to their appeal. For them, their rugged and honest approach to music and DJ-ing can be expressed by their ethos and desires to bring “real rockin’ raw shit from the streets for the clubs”.

Big Miz is one of those standout names. The rising Glaswegian producer and DJ has achieved great success very early on in his career through his longstanding appearance on the house and techno scene within his home city. His signing with record label Dixon Avenue Basement Jams and succinct releases have aided the young producers formidable and standout force within the increasingly saturated market, encompassing a true representation of Glaswegian passion and musical expectancies as an electronic artist.

As we move on to our residents, sarge created a name for himself in his hometown of East London and throughout university nights. His vast musical knowledge, coupled with his energetic style are just some of the reasons for his rise as a new and exciting talent.

Joe Burns, our final resident, hails from Leeds and is certainly a household name within the scene. He’s rubbed shoulders with some of the best DJ’s in the world and has put out some stellar productions already.

We’ve been overwhelmed by the support so far and we hope to see as many of you there as possible on Thursday 5th October, 22:30–03.30.

See you on the dancefloor people,
The access crew x
